Grand Council Veteran Service Medal

The Grand Council Veteran Service Medal is presented in recognition of Illustrious Companions who have honorably served in the Armed Forces of the United States and who continue to demonstrate unwavering dedication, leadership, and service within the Alpha Omega Illustrious Grand Council, Royal & Select Masters, Washington Jurisdiction, P.H.A.

This distinguished award honors those Companions whose commitment to country and Craft reflects the highest ideals of duty, sacrifice, and brotherhood. It stands as a lasting tribute to those who have served with honor and who continue to strengthen the foundations of Cryptic Masonry through their example.

Basis for Recognition

This distinction is awarded based on honorable military service combined with documented, measurable contributions to the Council and the Craft. Nominees must demonstrate continued engagement, leadership, and service that positively impacts the Brethren, their Council, and the community.

Award Criteria

The Grand Council Veteran Service Medal is based on demonstrated excellence in one or more of the following areas:

  • Honorable Military Service
    Verified service in the United States Armed Forces, reflecting courage, discipline, and commitment to the defense of the nation.
  • Continued Service to the Craft
    Active and ongoing contributions to the Council, including participation, leadership, and support of programs and initiatives.
  • Leadership & Example
    Demonstrated ability to lead by example, applying the values learned through military service to strengthen the Craft.
  • Commitment to Brotherhood
    Fostering unity, mentorship, and support among the Brethren, reinforcing the bonds of fraternal fellowship.
  • Community Engagement
    Meaningful involvement in community, civic, or veteran-related initiatives that reflect positively on the Council and the Craft.
  • Legacy of Service
    Sustained contributions that demonstrate long-term dedication to both country and Masonry.

Masonic Alignment

Nominees must exemplify the core values of Masonry and military service through their conduct and contributions, including:

Each nominee’s actions must reflect credit upon the Craft and embody the enduring principles of both military and Masonic traditions.

Nomination Requirements

Nominations for the Grand Council Veteran Service Medal must include:

  • Complete nominee and nominator information
  • Verification of military service
  • A detailed description of contributions to the Council and the Craft, including measurable impact
  • Clear demonstration of leadership, service, and Masonic alignment
  • Defined timeframe of continued service
  • Supporting documentation, such as service records, letters of support, or community involvement (if applicable)

All submissions are reviewed by the Grand Council, with selections based on merit, impact, and dedication.
