Terrell D. Hicklin Leadership & Inspiration Award

The Terrell D. Hicklin Leadership & Inspiration Award is presented in recognition of an Illustrious Companion whose leadership, service, and personal example have demonstrated excellence across all areas of Council operations and engagement. This distinguished honor recognizes a Companion whose actions have directly contributed to the strength, growth, and effectiveness of the Alpha Omega Illustrious Grand Council and its constituent Councils.

This award is reserved for those who not only lead with distinction, but who inspire others through mentorship, integrity, and a steadfast commitment to the principles of Royal and Select Masonry.

Basis for Recognition

This distinction is awarded based on documented, measurable performance during the year, demonstrating excellence in leadership, service, and impact. Nominees must clearly show how their contributions have advanced the mission of the Council, supported the Brethren, and positively influenced the community.

Award Criteria

The Terrell D. Hicklin Leadership & Inspiration Award is based on quantifiable and demonstrated excellence in one or more of the following areas :

• Leadership & Mentorship
  Demonstrated ability to lead effectively while developing, guiding, and inspiring fellow Companions, resulting in improved performance and engagement within the Council.
• Exceptional Council Service
  Significant and measurable contributions to the operations, growth, and overall effectiveness of the Council or its constituent bodies.
• Community or Charitable Service
  Documented involvement in charitable, civic, or community initiatives that reflect positively on the Craft and produce meaningful outcomes.
• Innovation & Initiative
  Implementation of new ideas, programs, or solutions that enhance Council operations, improve efficiency, or advance the mission of the organization.
• Sustained Outstanding Performance
  Consistent and long-term demonstration of excellence, resulting in measurable and impactful contributions over time.
• Other Distinguished Contributions
  Exceptional service or achievements that do not fall within the above categories but clearly merit recognition.

Masonic Alignment

Nominees must exemplify the core values of Masonry through both their actions and their leadership. This includes demonstrated adherence to:

• Integrity
• Charity
• Brotherly Love
• Service
• Moral Leadership

Each nominee’s contributions must clearly reflect these principles and bring credit upon the Craft.

Nomination Requirements

All nominations must be submitted using the official Terrell D. Hicklin Leadership-Inspirational-Excellence Individual Performance Nomination Form and must include :

• Complete nominee and nominator information
• Selection of the applicable award category
• A detailed and specific description of achievements, including measurable outcomes and impact
• A clear explanation of alignment with Masonic principles
• Defined timeframe of performance
• Supporting documentation, such as letters of support, project summaries, or event documentation (if applicable)

Incomplete or unsupported nominations may not be considered.

Standard of Excellence

The Terrell D. Hicklin Leadership & Inspiration Award represents the highest standard of individual performance within the Grand Council. Recipients of this award embody the principles of leadership, service, and inspiration, setting the example for all Companions to follow and leaving a lasting impact on the Craft.
