Grand Commandery Distinguished Service Award

The W.E.B. DuBois Grand Commandery Distinguished Service Award is one of the highest honors bestowed upon a Sir Knight within the Jurisdiction. This award recognizes those Sir Knights who have demonstrated sustained excellence, continued service, and unwavering commitment to the principles and mission of Chivalric Masonry beyond the tenure of presiding office or normal expectations of service.

This award is intended for Sir Knights who have previously served in leadership roles within the Masonic body and have continued to distinguish themselves through ongoing dedication, mentorship, and impactful contributions to their Commandery, the broader Masonic community, and society at large.

Recipients of this award exemplify excellence across multiple areas of performance, including but not limited to:

  • Exceptional service to the Commandery, Lodge, or affiliated Masonic bodies
  • Leadership and mentorship that develops and strengthens others
  • Meaningful contributions to community and charitable initiatives
  • Innovation and initiative that enhance operations, programs, or outreach
  • Sustained outstanding performance over a defined period of time

Nominees must clearly demonstrate measurable impact and tangible outcomes, reflecting how their efforts have positively influenced the Commandery, the Brethren, and the community. Additionally, their actions must embody the core tenets of Masonry, including integrity, charity, brotherly love, service, and moral leadership .

All nominations are evaluated based on the quality of service, the scope of influence, alignment with Masonic values, and the overall contribution to advancing the mission and reputation of the Grand Commandery.

The Distinguished Service Award stands as a testament to those Sir Knights who continue to serve with honor, lead with purpose, and uphold the highest traditions of Knighthood.
