Frederick of Prussia Commandery No. 2 is honored to carry a name of profound historical and Masonic significance. Frederick the Great, Frederick II of Prussia stands among the most distinguished monarchs in the history of the Craft. A devoted Freemason and the first head of a regular Masonic obedience, he championed the Grand Lodge of the Three Globes and steadfastly protected and promoted Masonry throughout his reign.

As one of Europe’s legendary military leaders, his disciplined Prussian armies embodied the chivalric virtues of courage, honor, loyalty and mastery of strategy, principles central to the Orders of Knighthood conferred within a Commandery. To bear his name is to invoke the ideal of the enlightened Christian warrior-king, a leader who ruled with both the sword and the compass, uniting strength with wisdom and faith with duty.
